2009
Recently, I competed in my 11th consecutive state games for my 10th year in special olympics Washington. I won 6th place in relay finishing 1 second faster that we did at regionals. I won a silver medal in the 5k walk in 34.21-7 minutes faster that my regional time of 41.56!! I won the gold in 800m walk with a personal best of 5:33!! That is 6 seconds faster than my personal best! I won gold in whot put with 9.62 meters!!!!! I NEVER broke the 9 meter mark!! I got into the small 8 meter scores, and I am in the 7s regularly, but 9.62 meters?! I know I lifted a 10 pound dumbell at work, and I practices with an 8 pound ball , I had tail wind, and the weather was perfect. But, WOW!!!! I applied to go to the national games next year.

2008
This year, I dedicated my entire track season to my hero, Gus Grissom. He has been my hero for a long time . I was in the relay, shot put, 800m walk and 400m walk again. After winning 3 gold and a silver at the district games,( I OWNED the 800m walk!! I even beat the guys!) I was on my way to my 10th consecutive state summer games!
We were well-behaved at the opening ceremonies and after lights out. However, a lot of my team mates and soccer players were chatting WAY too loudly among themselves, stomping up and down the stairs like elephants, and jumping off the top bunks!! We were on the top floor, the mess hall did not open until 0530-even then some people from OTHER teams did NOT need to up that early- and at 0445, my team mates were making all kinds of noise, turning on all the lights when people were still sleeping and shouting out to each other in that barracks where sound travels very well. Jumping off the top bunks makes a loud BOOMING sound downstairs, and our head coach chewed us about it.
My first event of the day was the 400m walk, and I won that with my team mate in second place. I also won shot put against 5 other women, and 5th place in relay. All the while, I wore my Apollo 1 lapel pin on my jersey.
ON Sunday, I owned the 800m walk by 75 meters!! I became a 24-time state champion!
In the fall, I won a bronze medal in bowling, gold at the local basketball games, and a bronze medal at the state winter games

2007
I fell in love with the late Dale Earnhardt this year, because I fell in love with NASCAR! He is my favorite driver. I also got a job at Olympic College. I did relay, shot put, 400m walk and 800m walk. We all had a great time at the district games. In the 800m walk, I beat the heck out of everybody! I was also the farthest female shot puter, and I beat the heck out of the 400m walk. My realy team won 5th place.
I dedicated my state games performance to Dale Earnhardt because If I won 2 more medals there, I would have 76 medals, and Dale had 76 NASCAR wins! I made my own Dale Earnhardt flag. I also dedicated my state games to the late blue angel LCDR Kevin Davis. Dale earnhardt is the Black Knight.
When the torch for the state games was lit, I raised 3 fingers of each hand up in the air to honor Dale.
I won the gold in the 400m walk in only 2 and a half minutes. I was 75% on the way to winning 100 medals!! In shot put, I won the gold in 8.2 meters!! My total medals equaled Dales' NASCAR wins. I waved my Dale flag on top of the medal podium, and raised my 3 fingers again. I had no doubt that Dale was watching me. My relay team won 4th place. I won the 800m walk on sunday, and won medal#77 whic was a gold! I was now a 22-time state champion.
I did bowling this year and won gold at the local meet and a silver at the super-regional meet.
My total medal count was an even 80.

We started our practices at Ceadr Heights JHS which is where we still practice. I participated in relay, shot put, mile walk with my mom and 5k walk! Because I was in a cross-country event, I had another automatic trip to the state summer games. I won 2 gold and 1 silver medal at the local track meet.
We were wound up after the opening ceremonies. JS got up and danced on the bus at least 50 times. PD and CB kept yelling at him to sit down!!
After lights out, the women who slept closest to the open stairwell kept SHOUTING good-night to each other unnescesarilly long! Our head coach came out and yelled at us to BE QUIET becuase there were people downstairs trying to sleep.

This was a great year also. I did some different things. I was in shot put, 200m run, the mile walk with my mom and 4x400m relay. I rode the bus to the local track meet, and 2 of our guys who said they will ride the bus decided to ride down instead WITHOUT LETTING OUR HEAD COACH KNOW, so they kept a busload of people waiting!! ANyways, I won 3 gold medals at the meet. Even if I only got ribbons, I would have STILL gone on to state because of the mile walk with my mom.
On Saturday, mom and I were the ONLY unified team to do the mile walk in the whole state, so we won gold of course, and I won silver in shot put AGAIN!! RRRRRGGGGGGGGGGGGHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!! ON sunday, I won gold in the 200m run and silver in the mile relay. I was a 16-time state champion.
My softball team won gold at the local meet and bronze at the state games. I won a 4th place in bowling. My basketball team FINALLY won the gold and we won silver at the state winther games

THis year, I gave up the running to do 800m walk, 400m walk, shot put and relay. I won 3 gold and 1 silver medal at the district games. Opening ceremonies at the state games are always fun! I danced anmd yelled my lungs out. This was the SECOND YEAR IN A ROW that I could not do relay at state because ANOTHER person was pulled from the state games!! UUGGHH!! I won the gold in the 400m walk and silver in shot put. ON sunday, I took the 800m walk for the gold by at leat 35 meters. I was a 14-time state champ.

2003
This was a banner year for me because I turned 21, and I graduated this year. I decided to do the mile run, relay, shot put and 800m walk. At the district meet, I won 3 gold medals and 4th place. Almost all of us went to state. The opening ceremonies were FUN!! I got up and danced again!
ON saturday, I won bronze in the mile run. WE did not do relay at state because one of our runnners chose not to come to anymore practices after the district meet. I won gold in shot put in my last throw, and beat the second place woman by only ONE inch!! On sunday, I won the 800m walk hands-down. I was a 12-time state champion

2002
For starters, the weather was perfect! It was warm and sunny all the time. And I turned 20 that year! I participated in relay, shot put, 200m walk and 400m walk. I won 3 gold medals and 1 silver medal at the most DISORGANIZED track meet I ever been in!
Next year was a world games year, so I wanted to win gold at the state games! SB was psychotic. LAst year, I thought she was just grouchy from having to get up so early, but this year, she was never happy! She finished dead last in her 100m run because she could not focus.
I won the gold in the 400m walk by at least 50 meters. AND I won gold in shot put!!! YES!! I am finally a state champion in my field event. My relay team won the gold going away! We just KILLED the other team.

This was my worst year in Special Olympics. I was int he 100m run, relay, long jump and 400m walk. La NINA came in, and it was cold, dark, windy , and raining at EVERY practice!! I won 2 gold, a silver and a bronze medals at the miserable district games! We were SOAKED!! At state games, the weather never got better. This was the first year, I satyed overnight in the barracks.
On saturday, I won a gold in the 400m walk, and a silver in the 100m run. My relay team took a stinking 5th place. I was really angry because I felt like I was held back. ON sunday, I won a silver in long jump which was REALLY disappointing because this was the second year in a row, that I failed to win my field event. I was a 5-time state champion!
My softball team won the gold and my basketball team won a stinking 5th place ribbon at the district games!! UUUUUUUUUUUUUUGGGGGGGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!

This time, I was in track and field. I was a South Kitsap Pacer. You could say that my track season started off with a BANG!! I participated in a relay, shot put, 100m run and 200m walk. This was the year that I became a legal adult. I cometed at the district meet and won 4 out of 4 gold medals!! I was going to the state gamews again! I could not believe it!! In Washington, the state summer games in Special Olympices are the BIG one!
THe openning ceremonies were held in a different hanger and it was fun. We were entertained by upbeat country music to which I was the VERY FIRST athlete of 2000 to get up and dance. My mom got embarrassed! JM got up and flapped his arms like a mad bird, he was so funny.

I won gold medal at my very first track meet! My next event was shot put. I won the silver in that against 5 other women. 1999
I started Special Olympics in 1999 in March. My very first sport was swimming. I was 17 at that time. I participated in the 25m freestyle, backstroke, breaststroke and 4x25m freestyle relay.
This was after a year of being OFFICIALLY diagnosed with autism. Autism is a developmental disability taht casused me either to lack or be dalayed in social skills, speech, motor skills. It cased me to be very repetative, hyperactive, self-stimming like you would never believe. I still can not make eye contact or be socialable.
In 1997, I started hallucinating. I had NO idea where the psychosis came frome, but it is GONE!!!
In swimming, I thought I would not win ANY medals at the district games. However, I won 2 gold and 1 silver medals, and I was going to my first state games! My very first competition in my life, and I get to go to a state games!!
Swimming at the state games are held at the Weyerhauser Aquatic Center in Federal Way. The opeing ceremonies are at McChord Air Force Base. I remember walking in line for the athletes parade with the track team and I was next to D.R.! D.R. kept lolligaggin and walking slowly causing B.N. to step on her heels. Then she would yell at him to stop. That went on repatedly, it was RIDICULOUS!! It went on for at least 10 minutes. DR would yell at BN, yet SHE was the one whop kept lolligagging. Finally, she truned around to tell B to STOP STEPPING ON HER FEET!!! Her coach yelled at her.
ON saturday, it was time to hit the pool. My first event was the 25m freestyle, and I was against a full field. I swam my arms off and WON THE GOLD MEDAL!!! My very first event at my very first state games, I won the gold! My backstoke event won me the silver medals, and we won the dsilver medal in the relay.
I did my backstoke on sunday in which I finished a stinking and very disappointing 6th place!
I also played softball and basketball and won silver medals in both sports. I am off to a great start.
